Owners - Here we go ... last week of the regular season. Standings ties (won-lost record) are resolved (in order) by: - head-to-head matchup result - total points for - total points against Just to be clear about tiebreakers ... if there are more than 2 teams tied with the same record, then the tiebreakers can be a little more complicated to figure out. Basically, if there is loop: A beat B, B beat C, C beat A Then the head-to-head matchup tiebreaker won't work ... 'total points for' becomes the decider. But there are cases such a 4-team tie: A beats B, B beats C, C beats A ... and D beats all. D will get the top slot, and A/B/C are ranked by total points. So that's why REYNOLDS RANGERS have clinched a playoff spot and at least a #7 seed even though they could end up with identical records as the WARRIORS and MOOSE and MAULERS. The RANGERS have beaten all three other teams head-to-head. On the other-side of the coin, the MAULERS would end up ranked lowest in any tie (four, three, or two team) and out of the playoffs because the MAULERS have lost to all three other teams. The WARRIORS have clinched, too. And today they have a better record than the MOOSE. But if the WARRIORS lose and the MOOSE win this week, the MOOSE would get the 7th seed and the WARRIORS would get the 8th seed due to the earlier head-to-head win by the MOOSE. So there is one playoff spot left up for contest between the MOOSE and the MAULERS. The MAULERS catch a break ... they play the 'elves' this week. But because the MOOSE beat the MAULERS earlier this year, the MOOSE would prevail if both teams end up with the same won-loss record. Though first the MOOSE must survive their Mojave-desert-chainsaw-steel-cage-match rivalry game with the CATFISH. As for the other teams ... there are 'loops' among the teams currently seeded #2 thru #5. That's why 'total points for' is currently the sole arbiter for them. Please note ... it looks like ESPN is correctly applying tie-breaker logic. A few years ago there was a situation where ESPN seemed wrong. If ESPN goofs this year, I will override and apply the rules/logic detailed above (and in the SAFFL Rulebook). Here's the current Playoff Picture: SAFFL'25 - Week 15 Playoff Picture They're In!
